The Headline Says it all
July 30, 2008 | | 2 Comments
HEADLINE SAYS IT ALL: How to twist the news: run a headline like this, “Brown shifts blame for Katrina response.” This kind of headline “warns” readers not to believe a thing Brown says, even though he’s telling the truth; he was blocked at every hand by local DEMOCRAT politicians. . . . REPUBLICANS RACIST? Bull droppings! All the best-known racists in Washington have been Democrats such as Sen. Robert Byrd (who was a KKK member in the past, and maybe the present). There are too many others to mention here, and few Republicans. But somehow the Republicans have gotten the reputation of being racist. Humbug! I guess if you repeat a lie often enough people come to believe it. . . . “BIPARTISAN EFFORT. RIGHT: This is another cartoon that says it all. . . . RATHER STILL “STUCK ON STUPID”: The last former anchor Dan Rather was heard saying is that the story about Bush’s imaginary cupidity in the Texas National Guard “was accurate, but we just couldn’t prove it.” Which isn’t the point. The memos were falsely manufactured, and badly done. If the story were actually true, they wouldn’t need to phony them up. . . . BUSH CAN’T WIN: If he doesn’t visit a disaster area right away, he gets criticized (Where WERE you?). Strumming a guitar in California? Reading books to children in a school? If he gets there too early, he’s accused of “getting in the way.” If he doesn’t go at all, guess what? . . . EQUAL PUNISHMENT: Remember Todd Bertuzzi (the hockey player who came up behind another player and almost killed him, ruined his life, and ended his hockey career — with a “cheap shot” from behind? He has been reinstated from his suspension by the NHL. His victim is still hobbling around (if he can walk at all), trying to recover. Bertuzzi says “I’m going to do what I can to make sure my life and career aren’t defined by what happened on March 8 (the day he almost killed another player with his “cheap shot”), but rather by what I did before and, most importantly, what I do after.” In other words, he wants no punishment for his deed, and doesn’t want anybody to judge him. A true liberal. . . . . . . BETTE MIDLER SAYS BUSH A DRUG ADDICT: Or was, anyway. In a recent show, she said Bush is a big fan of hers and his drug dealer got him some tickets to one of her shows many years ago. I’d like to see her produce some PROOF of that rather than her unsupported contention. In any case, how did she know about what “Bush’s drug dealer” did? . . . 97 RAT CATCHERS — NO RATS CAUGHT: In New Delhi, India, there are 97 rat-catchers on the government payroll who haven’t caught a single rat in ten years. Sounds like a lucrative place to “work.”

Kelsey: I don’t know what it is with you people who think starting a message with an insult will get you anywhere. The point, which you apparently don’t understand, is the tendency of “Hollywood types” to make such cracks about George Bush with no attribution. I don’t care if they DO disguise it as “comedy,” and I’m getting tired of it. Liberals don’t think it’s “comedy,” thus excusable, when Rush Limbaugh makes fun of Obama’s “tire pressure” comment. And don’t give me a 50,000 word essay on Limbaugh. Sheesh!
Ray Thomas’s last blog post..It “Doesn’t Compute”
Wow. Don’t tell me what I don’t understand. I’ve done extensive research on many members of the Bush administration, which you clearly haven’t. I can tell you that most (but not all) of what Bette says about George is accurate, including her hint at George’s history with drugs (albeit a brief history). A joke with a hint of truth to it stings a little bit, which made it funny. Also, must we label “Liberals” and “Conservatives”? God forbid someone makes his or her decisions based on candidate and not party! Even Bette has crossed party lines. Let’s not be so divisive here. What she said WAS a joke. No one took her seriously. Not even the Liberals. I promise.
